Maryland Armed Robbery Attorney
Robbery is considered a crime of violence and as such can have very serious consequences. Robbery is a felony, which means that your life will change forever if you are convicted. Given the seriousness of the charge, you should never plead guilty or say anything to police before you talk to an experienced defense lawyer. You could inadvertently give the state the information it needs to convict you.
My name is Jim Crawford. For the past 18 years, I have defended people in Baltimore, Catonsville, Annapolis, Bel Air and throughout Maryland who have been charged with crimes such as robbery, robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault. I offer a free initial consultation to discuss your case.
What Is Robbery?
Robbery differs from theft in that force or the threat of force is used to take money or property. Theft does not have to involve the use of a weapon to constitute robbery. Simply taking an item by force from someone or stating that you have a weapon would be enough to result in a robbery charge.
There are defenses to robbery. For example, you may have used force in self-defense, you may not have intended to take the item permanently or you may have been recovering your own property. If the police made procedural mistakes or violated your rights, the charges may be dismissed.
As your lawyer, I will provide an aggressive defense and force the state to prove the charges against you. My goal in any robbery case is to protect you from the consequences of a felony conviction.
